The College of Science is composed of five departments, one Nanotechnology MA program, and seven research centers. The Department of Physics and the Department of Chemistry were first established in 1955, at the same time as Chung Yuan Christian University was founded. The former offers two undergraduate modules in physics and photonics and material science. The latter offers two undergraduate modules in chemistry and material chemistry. The Department of Mathematics, set up in 1962 and renamed as the Department of Applied Mathematics in 2001, offers three modules in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer science. In 1966, the Department of Psychology was founded, and the Department of Bioscience Technology was established in 2001. In May 2002, the Center for Nanotechnology was formed. Five years later, in 2007, the Nanotechnology MA program is set up.
